Eligibility Criteria
The Purpose of the Trust is to specifically target assistance for young people and children at risk in the Greater Wellington Region who are in need, by enabling them to participate in the sport of basketball.
JT Trust funding requests should:
Specifically, and directly benefit children/tamariki and/or youth/rangatahi.
The applicant must live within the Capital Zone Basketball Trusts region which covers Wellington, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Kapiti Coast and & Wairarapa.
Focus on direct basketball program or services e.g. Basketball holiday programs, coaching clinics, camps. Tournaments leagues, equipment.
Address athletes needs to participate in basketball at any level.
Assist and/or support those who show promise but may have a barrier to continue their basketball pathway.
Only one application can be made in a 12-month period.
Grants must be directed to the purpose or person to which the grant relates

You should send in an application at least one month before you need the grant.

Anything that would assist the recipient in their personal development through participation in basketball events/activities (camps, clinics, tournaments) plus equipment such as uniforms, balls, boots, backboards.
Currently the Trust has modest capital, so grants are usually under $500, so that more players can be helped, but higher amounts will be considered.

Yes, however the Trust will still need to be satisfied all the team meets the Eligibility Criteria.
In some cases, perhaps only some members meet the criteria, in which event individual applications might be appropriate. Alternatively, a contribution might be appropriate for a team (where most individuals but not all, meet the criteria) that has fund raised but is still short of the funds required for them to participate.

We will ask for a refund if your grant funds have been on
Items that haven’t been specifically authorised.
Retrospective payments i.e. your grant funds have been used to pay for goods or services bought before your grant was approved.
Items or services that have been funded by another entity.
Items or services where the purchase price is less than the amount granted.

You must return the difference to us. Likewise, you must return any unspent funds. You can do this by depositing excess funds into our bank account.
Application Process
Accountability
The on-line form found on the JT Trust website: jttrust.co.nz/applications will be sent for consideration to the Grants Approval Committee (GAC)which is made up of three Trustees of the Justin Toebes Trust Board of Trustees.
A member of the GAC may contact the applicant if more information is needed to ensure a fair consideration is given.
The GAC will then consider the application and make its recommendation to accept or decline.
The applicant will be contacted by email and the application for funding is accepted it will state the amount approved. If declined a brief reason will be given.
The successful applicant will be contacted by email requesting a bank account name and account number for the JT Trust to transfer the funds by direct credit.
The applicant will advise the JT Trust immediately the money is showing in the applicant’s bank account.
We need all grant recipients to show us how and when their grant money was spent.
The trust reserves the right to require documentation to support applications for goods or services.
At the conclusion of the event/activity for which the funding was granted the application must send a report on the event/activity and if possible, include photos and/or video.
